At EarSay, we provide audiology services for listening health with a patient-first mindset.
EarSay was founded from a passion for both educational and clinical care. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech pathology and audiology from South Carolina State University in 2001, our founder, Dr. Skyler Joseph, began working with children in schools as a speech-language pathologist. The work was meaningful and drove a desire for Dr. Joseph to go deeper into clinical settings, leading her to graduate with her Doctorate degree in audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences (AT Still University) in 2011.
But saying goodbye to education left her feeling incomplete. So instead of choosing one path, both were pursued. Dr. Joseph continued to serve her patients in the clinical setting as an audiologist while simultaneously serving her students in the educational setting as a speech-language pathologist. This balance created a foundation for EarSay’s unique approach today. One that blends educational insight with clinical expertise, offering care from both perspectives.

Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) was once just a clinical term from graduate studies. There was no clear guidance on exactly what it was, or what the diagnosis meant for students and patients.
The initial spark ignited when a school district asked for Dr. Joseph’s guidance on a recently diagnosed student with APD. No one on the educational team understood the full extent of how APD was impacting this student in the educational environment, or how to even tackle it.
This was the beginning of Dr. Joseph’s journey into the world of APD. It was a talk given by Dr. Angela Loucks Alexander from the Auditory Processing Institute (API) that made everything click: APD was underrecognized, deeply impactful, and is able to be treated.
Through formal training with API using Dr. Jack Katz’s Buffalo Model, EarSay has learned to ask better questions, recognize hidden symptoms, and deliver answers that create real change.
Everyone hears differently, yet traditional care often overlooks this. At EarSay, audiology means understanding how listening affects your lifestyle, communication, and relationships.
Here’s how that plays out:
By seeing the person behind the symptoms, we make listening care feel human.
