Auditory Processing Disorder (APD)

Understanding Auditory Processing Disorder (APD)

APD happens when the brain has trouble understanding sounds. Even with normal hearing, it feels like the sounds don't make sense. Some might think APD isn't real or can't be treated, but that's not true. Our understanding of APD allows us to help those affected in meaningful ways.

Recognizing the Signs of APD

Knowing these signs helps in seeking help and support when needed.

The APD Evaluation Process

Before the APD evaluation, a current hearing test (within the last 12 months) must be completed and submitted to EarSay. We begin with in-depth questionnaires to gather essential information about you.
Based on that information, we would then proceed with the APD evaluation using the Buffalo Model. This model provides a more comprehensive view of where challenges may arise and enables us to proceed with the next steps.

Personalized Treatment Plans

Our treatment is all about you. Here’s what’s included:

  • Weekly Therapy: Choose your pace with one-hour sessions for 12-14 weeks or shorter half-hour sessions over 24-28 weeks.
  • Computer-Based Programs: Track your improvements and see where you shine.

Our adaptable approach ensures it fits right into your life.
